Our Story

I am Tom Holland  I joined the Quartet  to sing bass in 1996. My wife of 56 years, Susie Vanhoy Holland and I reside in Kernersville N.C. and are members of Sedge Garden UMC. We have one daughter Angie and husband, Brian, and three Grand Children, Zach and wife Jenn, Sarah and Josh. Our latest addition is our great-grand-daughter Emily Oliva.  I worked in Manufactoring until retirement and then I pursued a second career as a  funeral director where I am presently licensed and employed. Since age 14, I have enjoyed singing and being a part of Southern Gospel Music. As a teenager, I accepted Christ in a local community Baptist Church. Although my life experiences have had highs and lows, I believe that God has always been present to pick me up and forgive me. My life was spared following a life/death experience in the early 90s, during a heart-attack and heart by-pass surgery. I have come to believe that every day is a bonus , not to be wasted. What a joy and privilege it is for me to sing with these men who love the Lord and enjoy singing about the love of Jesus Christ! My favorite song is Blessed Assurance, Jesus is Mine. My favorite Bible verse is taken from the book of James, chapter 1: verse 12, "God blesses the people who patiently endure testing. Afterward they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those that love him",

Hello, I'm David Simmons, tenor for Glory Street. I'm a native of Winston-Salem, NC, where I was blessed to be brought up by wonderful Christian parents. I grew up singing in children's, youth and adult choirs and now am fortunate to sing with the Chancel Choir at Sedge Garden UMC,

Every morning I thank God for my lovely wife, Camille, and the joy that she brings to our marriage. There are 2 children in our lives, Kent, who lives in Winston-Salem, and Meredith who, with her husband Joe, lives in Hampstead, NC, and they have given us two of the greatest gifts we could ever receive - our grandsons, Kent and Zachary!

When I'm not singing with Glory Street, Camille and I like to spend time at our "second home" in the beautiful Blue Ridge mountains near Boone, NC or exploring new places in our RV.

Hi, I'm Steve Holland. I've been singing baritone with "Glory Street" ever since we began in 1991. Well, sometimes Tommy and I switch parts. Most of the time on purpose!

I started singing years ago, and I can still remember that little kid with sweaty palms who sang his very first solo at Sedge Garden United Methodist Church. Since then, I've enjoyed singing everything from opera, to barbershop, to Southern Gospel, but I always feel the spirit of God’s presence when singing Southern Gospel and enjoy it best.

I've lived in the Kernersville, N.C. area all my life, except for the years that I traveled working for "Uncle Sam". I married my lovely wife, Edna, more than 45 years ago, and God blessed us with two wonderful children, Jennifer and Brian. Brian went home to be with Jesus on December 16, 2005. He was Glory Street’s greatest fan and we still miss him dearly. Jennifer has given us four grandchildren; granddaughters, Sarah and Caitlin and two grandsons, Benjamin and Daniel. They are such a joy to us!

I worked with BellSouth for over 30 years before retiring. After failing miserably at retirement, I began working at UNCSA. Away from work, my time is filled with singing, serving in my church and community, and spending time with my wife and family.

God has provided both blessings and challenges for me and I thank Him for both. I’ve given my life to Him. He has given me the opportunity to sing His praises along with my brother, Tom Holland, and my Christian brothers, David and Tommy. I love these guys!

Hi, I am Tommy Holder.
I sing the lead part most of the time, but like Steve said we switch parts from time to time and I may have a bari part or squeak out the tenor line when one of them take the melody line. Besides singing, I also arrange most of our music as well as write original songs we perform from time to time.  Our last 2 recordings, I acted as Producer/ Engineer for the vocals and recorded and mastered them in the Homegrown Studios (my basement).   I have been playing the guitar since I was in the 5th grade, and also can play bass ,and a little piano.  I have been member of Sedge Garden United Methodist church all my life, where I started singing in the Children's Choir, and during high school I played guitar and sang with our traveling church group, the "New Way Singers".  It was during this time I gave my life to Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior.
I was formerly a radio and television personality in Hickory, NC, then worked for Coca Cola in Greensboro for 13 years, US Foods for 3 years, but currently I am the Personnel Supervisor for XPO Logistics (formerly Con-way Freight) since 2003.
But most important to me  after Jesus Christ, is my wife Sheila and our children, Chris, Brooke and Courtney.  Chris went home to the Lord on January 5,2008.  He was a talented chef and musician...and is greatly missed.  But he left us with our granddaughter Emma, and Brooke and her husband Sam recently gave us  a grandson, Bramley Christopher....(she named him after her brother Chris).  I am Blessed,
